When the COVID-19 pandemic threatened the survival of childcare providers across Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, the Maryland Women’s Business Center needed a clear picture of the crisis—and fast. Partnering with EurekaFacts, WMBC surveyed licensed childcare owners and operators to quantify the pandemic’s impact on enrollment, revenue, staffing, compliance costs, and business sustainability.

The research revealed significant financial losses and operational challenges facing providers, many of whom were struggling to remain open while meeting evolving health and safety requirements. By calculating both the individual and collective financial impact on the industry, EurekaFacts delivered actionable evidence on the specific assistance businesses needed most.

Armed with these insights, regional economic development leaders were able to direct resources where they would have the greatest impact and create targeted communications that connected providers with critical support programs. The study helped inform a more responsive recovery strategy, ensuring that essential childcare services—and the families who depend on them—received support during one of the most challenging periods in recent history.

The Voter Participation Center (VPC) wanted to make voter registration easier for the New American Majority—but even small barriers in a registration form can prevent eligible voters from participating. To address this challenge, VPC partnered with EurekaFacts to evaluate and improve the usability of its mail-in voter registration form.

Through in-depth interviews with voters across five states, EurekaFacts observed how individuals from diverse backgrounds interacted with the form, identifying points of confusion, friction, and opportunities for improvement. The research uncovered practical changes that could simplify the registration process and create a more accessible experience for prospective voters.

Armed with clear, evidence-based recommendations, VPC was able to refine its registration materials to better meet the needs of its target audience. The result was a more user-friendly registration experience designed to reduce barriers, increase completion rates, and ultimately support greater voter participation among historically underrepresented populations.
